Participating brands may include Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi One, Mountain Dew and Storm while supplies last. Participating package sizes may include specially-marked 20 oz., 24 oz., 1-liter and 2-liter bottles, fountain cups and 12-pack and 24-packs of cans. Game may also be available on specially-marked 20 oz. bottles of Wild Cherry Pepsi, Diet Mountain Dew, Orange Slice, Mug Root Beer, Lipton Brisk and 16 oz. Lipton's Iced Tea. Not all package sizes and brands may participate or be available in all areas.
2. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. For one free game piece without purchase and a copy of Official Rules, send a self-addressed stamped envelope postmarked before 9/15/99 to Pepsi Star Wars Promotion, P.O. Box 420576, El Paso, TX 88542-0576. Limit one free game piece per request per stamped envelope. Residents of VT and WA may omit return postage.
3. TO WIN $20 CASH PRIZE, look for a gold "Yoda" can inside specially-marked multi-packs, or look for the word "Yoda" under bottle caps and on fountain game stickers. If you find a gold "Yoda" can with a winning message or a bottle cap or game piece that reveals the word "Yoda" along with a prize winning message, then you may have won $20 (subject to verification).
4. TO REDEEM $20 CASH PRIZE, mail your entire potential winning gold "Yoda" can (empty) or bottle cap or game piece postmarked on or before 10/15/99 with complete name, street address and daytime phone number hand-printed on 3"x5" paper to: Pepsi Star Wars Promotion, P.O. Box 420574, El Paso, TX 88542-0574. IMPORTANT MAILING INSTRUCTIONS: Mail all potential winning bottle caps and cans in a small box or reinforced padded envelope (available at local post office). Do not mail bottle caps or cans in regular letter-style envelopes as they may burst causing caps or cans to be lost, crushed and/or undeliverable. Extra postage may be necessary. EMPTY CANS PRIOR TO MAILING. Proof of mailing does not constitute proof of delivery. Submission of potential winning game piece is the responsibility of participant who assumes all risk of loss, damage, destruction, delay and misdirection of game piece. No responsibility is assumed for lost, late or illegible mail or damaged, torn or separated mail due to improper packaging of game pieces.
5. TO REDEEM "FREE 20 OZ. PEPSI/DEW", bring the entire game piece/bottle cap to a participating retailer on next store visit before 10/15/99. Limit one redemption per store per day. Winner pays applicable sales tax and/or bottle deposit charge. Not all retailers may be participating.
6. TO REDEEM "FREE MEDIUM FOUNTAIN DRINK", bring entire winning game sticker to a participating Pepsi fountain location on next store visit before 10/15/99. Limit one redemption per store per day. Not all fountain retailers may be participating.
7. PRIZE/ODDS: $20 cash prize (awarded via $20 check). 650,000 available. Odds per each bottle/fountain cup purchase 1 in 5,167; odds per each 12-pack purchase 1 in 1,833; odds per each 24-pack purchase 1 in 917. Free 20 oz. bottle of any Pepsi or Mountain Dew product, only available to be won on specially-marked 20 oz. and 1 liter bottles offering chance to win prize in participating markets. 8. ELIGIBILITY. You must be a legal resident of the United States to be eligible. Employees of Lucasfilm Ltd., PepsiCo, Inc., Pepsi-Cola Company, its bottlers, Don Jagoda Associates, their affiliates, printers, suppliers (including packaging, bottle, label, closure, and can suppliers), distributors and advertising, promotional or judging agencies and the immediate family members of each are not eligible to win. Limit one $20 cash prize per name, address and/or household. Prizes won by minors may be awarded to the minor's parent or legal guardian.
9. GENERAL CONDITIONS. All prizes must be redeemed by 10/15/99 in accordance with these rules. Allow 6-8 weeks for verification and delivery of prize. Unclaimed prizes after 10/15/99 will not be awarded. Void wherever prohibited or restricted by law. Only those persons submitting a verified gold Yoda can shall also receive one gold Yoda replacement can for their collection; the replacement can is not eligible for any prize. Limit one replacement can per verified gold can winner. No substitution of prize or transfer of prize to a third party is permitted. Prize recipients are responsible for all applicable taxes on prize, if any. By participating in this promotion and submitting a prize claim, you agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the judges which shall be final and binding. You are not a winner until your potential winning game piece has been timely received and verified by Pepsi-Cola, and you have complied with these Official Rules.
10. VERIFICATION. All bottle caps, gold cans and game pieces (collectively, "game pieces") submitted for redemption become the property of Pepsi-Cola and will not be returned. All game pieces subject to verification at the sole discretion of Pepsi-Cola. Anti-fraud detection devices may be used to verify winners. Game pieces will be void if they fail to pass anti-fraud detection measures or if found to be photocopied, reproduced, altered, forged, defaced, tampered with, mutilated, stolen, unissued, unauthorized, unreadable, partially printed, incompletely printed, smudged, crushed, or illegible in any way, or if they fail to contain special markings, inks and/or security codes used by Pepsi-Cola in this promotion, or if defective or if they contain printing or other mechanical errors or are printed or produced in error. Replacement Yoda cans (with no prize winning message) provided pursuant to Rule No. 3 are not eligible for a prize. No prizes will be awarded to holder of any game piece determined to be void or otherwise ineligible and Pepsi-Cola shall have no further obligation or liability in respect thereof except to replace the void game piece with another randomly selected piece if appropriate upon request. No more than the stated number of prizes in these official rules will be awarded, and if at any time Pepsi-Cola, in its sole discretion, determines that more valid prize claims have been received than the number of prizes offered in any prize category, then Pepsi-Cola may suspend prize awards for that category until the end of the promotion, and any remaining prizes for that category (up to the total listed) may be awarded via a random drawing from among all persons submitting prize claims for that category after prize awards were suspended. Only specially marked game pieces distributed by participating Pepsi-Cola bottlers during the duration of the game will be accepted.
11. TERMINATION. Promotion ends on the earlier of 9/15/99 or when the supply of specially-marked game pieces has been exhausted, whichever occurs first.
12. RELEASES. Prize winners may, upon request, be required to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility and liability release within 14 days of receipt before prize is awarded; non-compliance may result in forfeiture of prize. Return of any prize notification and/or prize as undeliverable without forwarding address will result in prize forfeiture. All winners, by acceptance of a prize, agree to release Lucasfilm Ltd., PepsiCo, Inc., Pepsi-Cola Company, its bottlers, Don Jagoda Associates, their affiliates, distributors, suppliers and advertising, promotion or judging agencies from any and all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages or losses of any kind to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership or use of the prize. Except where prohibited by law, winner consents by acceptance of a prize to the use of his/her name, voice, picture or other likeness without compensation for promotional purposes as determined by Pepsi-Cola.
