Pepsi-Cola Returns to the Big Game Lineup With a New Tagline: "The Joy of Pepsi"

 

Fans' Favorite Past Pepsi Commercial to Air in Post-Game
PURCHASE, N.Y., January 22, 2001 - Pepsi-Cola's flagship brand returns to the advertising lineup of pro football's championship game Sunday with the new tagline, "The Joy of Pepsi." Spokesgirl Hallie Eisenberg will be on the sideline for this round of spots, which feature humor, warmth, and of course - joy - but she will be available for future work. Pepsi will air its commercials during three minutes of in-game advertising - two minutes in the first half and one minute in the game's third quarter.

"With the huge audience expected to tune in Sunday, it's a great time to create broad-scale awareness of fresh material that engages and entertains viewers," said Dawn Hudson, senior vice president, strategy and marketing, Pepsi-Cola North America. "This is a natural evolution of a campaign that will help us amplify the Joy of Pepsi."

The commercials were created by Pepsi's longtime advertising agency, BBDO New York.

Leading up to the game, Pepsi and marketing partner Yahoo! are letting consumers log on to http://pepsi.yahoo.com and decide which Pepsi commercial from past years they'd like to see again. The commercial that receives the most online votes will air in the post-game show on CBS on January 28. Voting ends at 11:59 p.m. (PST) on Saturday, January 27. One hundred randomly selected voters will win $2001 for participating.
